Nia is Hello Heart’s artificial intelligence (AI) heart health assistant. If your organization is participating in this feature, Nia can provide personalized information about your medications and help keep your medication list in the Hello Heart app up-to-date.
Nia uses the information already saved in the app, such as your medication list, to make answers more relevant to you.
Please note: Nia is an educational tool and is not a doctor, pharmacist, or emergency service. It can not make a diagnosis, offer treatment guidance, or make medical decisions.
What can Nia help me with?
You can ask Nia questions about your medications, such as:
- What does this medication do?
- What side effects should I watch for?
- What should I do if I miss a dose?
- Could this medication interact with my other medications?
- When is the best time to take this medication?
- How long might it take for the medication to start working?
- Can I take this with an over-the-counter medication, vitamin, or supplement?
Nia can help you prepare questions for your doctor or pharmacist. Nia can also help you add or update a medication in the app. When you ask Nia to add a medication, it will guide you through the steps of adding a new medication to the app.
Nia may ask you to:
- Confirm whether the medication is already on your list.
- Confirm the medication’s name, strength, and form.
- Enter when and how often you take it.
- Enter the date you started taking it.
- Review the information before it is saved.
Nia will only save the medication after you confirm that the information is correct. After it is saved, Nia may check for possible interactions with the other medications on your list and explain the results.
What happens if Nia finds a possible medication interaction?
A possible interaction does not always mean the medications are unsafe for you to take together. Your doctor or pharmacist will need to consider your health history, dosage, and treatment plan.
Do not stop or change a medication based only on information from Nia. Discuss possible interactions with your doctor or pharmacist before making changes.
Can Nia help with side effects?
Nia can explain whether a symptom may be a common side effect of a medication. It may also explain whether a side effect is commonly reported or could require medical attention.
Nia cannot determine what is causing your symptom(s). Contact a healthcare provider when a symptom is new, worsening, serious, or concerning.
For a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number. Do not wait for an answer from Nia.
What can’t Nia do?
Nia cannot:
- Diagnose a medical condition.
- Tell you to start a medication.
- Tell you to stop taking a medication.
- Decide which treatment is right for you.
- Help with insurance claims, prior authorizations, or pharmacy orders.
- Replace your doctor or pharmacist.
- Provide emergency medical care.
Decisions about starting, stopping, or changing medication must be made with a licensed healthcare provider.
