Why does the app say my blood pressure is high when my doctor doesn't?

This is a great question that many of our users have, and we really appreciate you giving us a chance to offer some more information about the guidelines we use.

Hello Heart bases its blood pressure categorization on the guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA). This is meant to give you a quick overall view of your blood pressure reading, but it’s compared against what is “normal” for the American populace as a whole rather than for you as an individual. Because your doctors tailor their feedback and advice to your specific situation (as they should), the language your doctors use to describe your blood pressure may differ from the language used by the AHA.
